The Spire that never was.
The original designs for the new parish church of St Mary at Upper Walmer included a spire on top of the tower. This illustration, based on a sketch by Sir Arthur Blomfield was included in the book "Records of Walmer" compiled by Charles R. S. Elvin and published in November 1890.
