Artist's impression of Walmer Church (circa 1825)

This pencil sketch by Victorian artist Elizabeth Twining (born 1805, died 1889) shows Walmer's historic parish church, probably around 1825. The picture was kindly submitted to WalmerWeb by Mr Vincent Biggs of Bletchley, Herts who says he bought the original for £2 in a car boot sale in Milton Keynes about 12 years ago.

Elizabeth Twining, grand-daughter of Richard Twining of Twining's Tea fame, is more noted for her paintings of flowers and some of her work is held in the British Museum.
